彫刻家三沢厚彦は、ユーモラスで親しみ深い様子が魅力的な動物の木彫を制作します。2001年7月に第20回平櫛田中賞を受賞、東京日本橋高島屋と岡山県井原市の井原市田中美術館で受賞記念展が開催されました。2002年の西村画廊での新作個展「ANIMALS
02」では、巨大なキリンをはじめとしてカンガルー、マンドリル、ウサギ、そして犬・猫といったさまざまな動物たちを一所に集めた展示で、大きな反響を得ました。この個展と同時に初の作品集"Animals"が求龍堂より刊行され、好評発売中です。2003年は群馬県立館林美術館で開催された「動物、アートとなる」の他、絵本『動物たち』の原画を中心に展示したドローイング展を当画廊で開催しました。また三沢は2005年に第15回タカシマヤ美術賞を受賞し、同年の当画廊での個展では等身大の象やカエルを発表するなど、これまで以上に精力的に制作を続けています。
2007年4月から平塚市美術館を皮切りに巡回する「三沢厚彦
ANIMALS+」展では、初期の作品や粘土を使用した作品、またドローイングなど様々な素材、大きさで動物を表現した約150点もの作品を展示します。三沢が制作するユーモア溢れる動物たちが見せる豊かな表情をお楽しみ下さい。 |
The sculptor, Atsuhiko Misawa
is known for the wooden life-sized sculptures of animals,
which are lively and humorous. He won the 20th Hirakushi Denchu
Prize in 2001 and the winning exhibitions were held in Nihonbashi
Takashimaya Department Store, Tokyo and Ibara Municipal Denchu
Art Museum, Okayama.
Misawa's 2nd solo exhibition
at Nishimura Gallery was held in 2002, in which variety of
animal sculptures were shown, such as a giraffe, a kangaroo,
a mandrill, rabbits, dogs and cats and succeeded to gather
the attention of the public. In the same year, his first work-book
'Animals' was released from the Kyuryudo Publishing Inc.,.
Next year, he participated in the group exhibition "Animals
as Art" (Gunma Museum of Art, Tatebayashi) and also had
the exhibition at Nishimura Gallery including the original
drawings of his picture book for children.
In 2005, he was awarded the
15th Takashimaya Charitable Trust for Art and Culture Prize
and we believe that it assured his technical proficiency and
artistic creativity.
Beginning from April 2007,
his upcoming solo exhibition "MISAWA Atsuhiko ANIMALS+"
at the Hiratsuka Museum of Art will be showing over a hundred
and fifty works, including not only the wooden sculptures
but also many other animals in different mediums; his early
works in assemblage style, clay works or drawings
and so on.
